I went to the store the other day, and by some miracle got the last six rolls of toilet paper on the shelves. Walmart was completely sold out that day, and even though I'm pretty good about making sure we have a decent supply at home we only had one partial roll left. That dusty papery goodness will soon be worth it's weight in gold if things keep going this way!
So I had to think: if we can't find any more toilet paper, what are we going to do? I'm not prepared to shower every time I tinkle. What happens when there's none of it left?!
Well the good news is, there IS an option, and if you have a little bit of time you can easily make a reusable substitute to get you through. I would only use this option for urination, and save the toilet paper for the bowl blockers my boys leave to surprise me....
The first thing you'll need is about a yard of flannel cloth. The sections I bought were 42 inches wide, and 36 inches long. Cut it into 6 inch squares, and bind off the edges with your favorite method. I used a serger for mine, but a regular sewing machine would work, as would hand stitching. Keep a stack of clean ones close by, and a receptacle to place used ones in. When it is full, wash them with the same process you would cloth diapers (found here) as long as they are only used to urine. If you're worried about being able to access toilet paper for some reason, then this could stretch your limited supply!
